Have you heard of Gravity Wave?
You may have heard of them, or perhaps this is the first time you’ve
come across this name. Gravity Wave is a project working to
remove plastic waste from the sea and ports, particularly in the
Mediterranean, and giving it a new lease of life through the circular economy.
At SLEEP’N Valencia, we learnt about their work and felt it aligned with something
we firmly believe in: looking after our environment isn’t an option, it’s
a responsibility we all share.
That is why, at our hotel, we have decided to collaborate with Gravity Wave through
our initiative “Take a stand against climate change!”.
How can you get involved?
It’s very simple. During your stay at SLEEP’N Valencia, if on any
day you decide you don’t need your room cleaned, you can
let us know.
We’ll take care of the rest: we’ll donate €5 to Gravity Wave to help with the
removal and clean-up of plastic from the Mediterranean Sea.
It may seem like a small gesture. And it is. But that’s precisely the idea:
to show that sustainability can also be part of the little
moments of our daily lives.
That day, you can sleep in a little longer, enjoy your room just as it is
and, at the same time, know that your decision is contributing to a cause that
looks beyond our own four walls to something much bigger: our
Mediterranean.
Why Gravity Wave?
Because their work represents a different way of tackling the problem
of waste.
Plastics recovered from the sea and from ports can be turned into
new resources and products, preventing all that material from ending up as
simply waste. It is an example of the circular economy: making the most of
what already exists, reducing waste and creating new opportunities for
materials.
Furthermore, protecting our seas also means protecting
the biodiversity that depends on them.
And for us, here in Valencia, this has a special significance.
The Mediterranean is part of our identity. It is right here, just a few
kilometres from SLEEP’N Valencia. It is landscape, nature, culture, cuisine,
leisure and a home to thousands of species. Looking after it means looking after a part of who
we are.
Our commitment to the environment
This partnership with Gravity Wave is one of the initiatives we have
chosen to promote at SLEEP'N Valencia as part of our commitment to
the environment.
We believe that economic growth and the well-being of society are
intrinsically linked to the health of the planet. We cannot talk about the future,
well-being or development without taking into account the environment that makes
all this possible.
As a hotel, we know that we are part of a sector that has a
