SLEEP’N Atocha turns hospitality into an act of sustainability, combining comfort, design and environmental and social commitment to offer a responsible, local and conscious accommodation experience in the heart of Madrid.
Travelling responsibly is no longer just a trend: it’s a new way of understanding the world. More and more people are looking for accommodation that combines comfort, authenticity and respect for the environment. At SLEEP’N, we believe that sustainability isn’t just something you talk about – it’s something you practise. And we do so in every little detail, with a clear aim: for your stay to leave a mark, but only in your memories.
Located right in the heart of Madrid, just a stone’s throw from the Art Triangle, SLEEP’N Atocha has made sustainable hospitality a way of life. Our commitment isn’t just on paper: it’s reflected in how we design our spaces, how we treat people and how we look after the planet. Because we believe that a good trip isn’t just measured in kilometres travelled, but also in the positive impact it makes.
Caring for the environment, in our day-to-day lives
Sustainability at SLEEP’N isn’t limited to recycling: it’s a way of thinking. That’s why we work with smart systems that reduce water and energy consumption, use LED lighting throughout the building and have water-saving systems in place. We’ve phased out single-use plastics and opted for eco-friendly, biodegradable toiletries, free from harsh chemicals. Every choice, from bed linen to cleaning products, is made with care and respect.
Our commitment extends beyond the hostel itself. We support local and sustainable suppliers, promoting a circular and local economy that fosters talent in Madrid. We’re proud to report that 59 per cent of our suppliers are located within 80 km of the hostel, and that 86 per cent of the cost of goods sold is generated in Spain. Thus, the products we use and serve reflect our commitment to supporting local businesses and reducing our environmental footprint.
Well-being with a purpose
At SLEEP’N, rest is also part of sustainability. The rooms are designed with natural materials, warm lighting and a functional style that invites you to switch off from the hustle and bustle of city life. This isn’t about excessive luxury, but rather balanced comfort and genuine wellbeing. Each space aims to create calm, comfort and harmony, demonstrating that it is possible to look after the planet without compromising on design or experience.
We promote a noise-free environment, with certified textiles, high-quality mattresses and efficient ventilation that reduces our environmental impact. Because we believe that resting well is also part of travelling better.
An impact that is felt, not imposed
Our environmental commitment is formalised: we are a B Corp, the first in Spain in the accommodation sector and the second in Europe – a recognition that certifies our compliance with the most demanding standards in social, environmental, transparency and corporate responsibility matters.
We have held carbon-neutral building certification (ZeroCO2) since 2019 and use 100 per cent renewable energy.
Furthermore, we make our information publicly available, including our annual sustainability reports and our policies, because we believe transparency is an essential part of sustainability.
And if we had to sum it up in a single sentence, it would be this:
We dream of being the best accommodation – not in the world, but for the world.
Start the day mindfully
Every morning, our homemade breakfast features fresh, local and healthy produce. Artisan breads made with sourdough, freshly squeezed juices, seasonal fruit and vegetarian and vegan options are all part of a menu that prioritises simplicity, craftsmanship and consistency. It’s our way of starting the day with energy and purpose: enjoying ourselves whilst knowing that every choice makes a difference.
Afterwards, the choice is yours: explore the museums of the Art Triangle, lose yourself along the Cuesta de Moyano, or discover the charm of Lavapiés and its multicultural offerings. All just a few minutes’ walk away, with no need for transport or rushing. Because at SLEEP’N, sustainable travel is also about taking your time and enjoying your surroundings.
A place where sustainability is felt
SLEEP’N proves that sustainability and design can go hand in hand. That choosing responsible accommodation doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort or style. Here, every little action counts: saving water, energy efficiency, waste management, the use of renewable energy and, above all, caring for people.
Every guest who stays with us is part of a network of conscious travellers who believe that a different kind of tourism is possible: one that is more humane, more respectful and more inspiring.
Because looking after the planet isn’t an option: it’s a way of travelling, of feeling and of living.
And at SLEEP’N, we make this possible from the heart of Madrid, where every stay becomes a greener, more personal and more authentic experience.
